GRANT WRITER
Women’s Initiative for Self Employment is in a period of growth and looking for an experienced, senior level grant writer to add to our team.
The Grant Writer position involves grant writing, grant management, grant reporting, and donor cultivation.
You will manage a high volume of institutional donors, both writing requests and working with donors from foundations, corporations, and government entities.
Responsibilities
Specifically you will:
• Write creative requests and reports that connect social trends and donor interests with our programming
• Serve as steward of donor dollars, using project management skills as new programs move from conception to implementation
• Research current and prospective donors
• Keep a pulse on program and fundraising opportunities
• Work with program and administrative staff to ensure that grant agreements are fulfilled in a timely manner
• Meet with potential grantors to pitch ideas and cultivate relationships
• Maintain accurate and timely records of your interaction with donors using Blackbaud Raiser's Edge
Qualifications
• 5 + years of fundraising experience
• 3 + years of grant writing experience
• Knowledge about cultivating, soliciting, and reporting to government sources, corporations, and private foundations
• A love for writing and excellent writing skills
• Proactive, effective communication skills
• Passion for our mission and dedication to our clients
• Great attention to detail
• Excellent organizational skills, including project management skills
• Accountability, including ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to work as a member of a team and to work independently
• Ability to relate well to people of diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds
• Commitment to advancing the status of women
Compensation
Salary: Competitive, DOE

This is a full time, exempt position based in the heart of downtown Oakland. Full benefits package includes medical, dental, generous PTO and more.
