Women’s Initiative’s volunteers give time, passion, talents, knowledge, and skills.  Our volunteers, with their diverse interests and experiences, support local women entrepreneurs and help build thriving communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. 

In 2010, our volunteers contributed just over 16,000 hours, translating to the equivalent of nearly 8 full time employees! Every member of Women’s Initiative’s staff works with volunteers, and we estimate volunteers drive and direct approximately one-third of the agency’s work each year.

By contributing time and resources to Women's Initiative you can feel good about supporting women entrepreneurs. It is a win-win opportunity for you, our team and clients — don't be surprised when you walk away bubbling with inspiration. You can get involved as:

A volunteer supporting work in and out of our offices, supporting any and every level of the agency;
A business connector, sharing your expertise and professional experience with our clients;
A fellow or intern, dedicating 10-15 weeks to Women’s Initiative on projects of interest with our staff;
A member of our leadership team, joining our boards in any of the regions we serve.

As a volunteer, you can get involved at every level of the organization:

With our clients: in our classroom, following up with graduates, outreach to new clients, or as a keynote speaker at a client-centered event;
With our administrative team: working on our databases (Raiser’s Edge), doing general office work, supporting our marketing and communications, and supporting our volunteer program;
At our events: attending our networking events, special events, and regional events (or by joining the planning teams!)
Online: support our website, creating videos, and providing photography skills.
