New Deadline for nominations is June 11
To be considered for the award, the individual must identify as a woman and be the founder or owner of a successful business.
Women’s Initiative for Self Employment announces the 2010 Woman Entrepreneur Awards, recognizing women business owners throughout the Bay Area for their contributions to their community and the local economy, and who are examples and mentors to aspiring female entrepreneurs.

Women’s Initiative believes in the power of women entrepreneurs to make a difference in their families, the economy and our communities. The Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards seeks to recognize women entrepreneurs in major cities of the Bay Area that demonstrate the following:

  • Have been successful despite the barriers that exist for woman business owners,
  • Exemplify how business ownership and leadership is beneficial for women and their families,
  • Have a positive impact on local community or the community at large and/or
  • Advance their business through innovation.
Once nominated, the entrepreneur will be asked to complete an entry form asking for information about their business, including number of years in business, revenue and number of employees. A Leadership Committee from each region will determine the Woman Entrepreneur of the Year based on information provided in the entry form. Winners will be announced in August and honored at an award celebration in October.
